Til Blechschmidt

Software Engineer & Private Pilot

Introduction

Hi, I'm Til and I am passionate about almost everything that has to do with technology with a special interest for tech infrastructure and system architecture. I strive to extend my area of knowledge wherever possible and have been involved in a multitude of disciplines from web development and infrastructure management all the way down to embedded system design.

Experience

DevOps Engineer — PPI AG

March 2021 – Present

As a junior engineer I am managing, supporting and extending our on-premise Kubernetes cluster spanning multiple locations and close to fifty servers. Additionally, I nurture a open-source project for deploying software testing infrastructure using containers. For more details, consult the second page.

Part-time Student — PPI AG

October 2017 – March 2021

As a student, I contributed to a diverse range of projects — both big and small — and dipped my toes in the roles of project manager, software architect, and full-stack developer.

Internships — PPI AG & Brockmann Consult GmbH

April 2014; July 2014; November 2015; August 2016

Both as part of my high-school education and voluntarily, I took a number of internships covering media production, environmental informatics, and data transformation.

Projects

Below you can find a list of my most notable, polished, and published projects. While many of my pet projects are born from cool ideas or associated with fun topics, most of them have been left in a less presentable state and primarily served an educational purpose. If you are interested in reading more about those you can visit my blog, where I talk about most of them in detail, or dig directly into the respective repositories on GitHub — both are linked above.

E.L.S.A.
Emergency Landing Site Assessment
On the quest to make general aviation safer, I collaborated with my flight instructor to develop a tool which assists pilots in assessing the risk involved with overflying populated areas at low altitudes — as is sometimes required by airspace restrictions.
OrbCast
Satellite Orbit Prediction Toolkit
In order to make satellite tracking more accessible for RF enthusiasts, I brought a state-of-the-art NASA framework to the browser. This allows users to accurately predict when an object of interest passes and thus plan communication more easily from any device!
